This is something I’ve thought about! Palpatine’s return being announced in the opening crawl is insanely dumb and anticlimactic. The only reason it didn’t seem that bad is that Palps was in the trailer, so we already knew he returned. Can you imagine if you learned about it for the first time in the opening crawl? I feel you I just finished the series and I think it was my least favorite book but by no means a bad book. I liked the world-building, the biopic aspect of Leto II, and trying to put the pieces together since 3,500 years have passed.
